Within the framework of a knowledge and technology transfer project co-financed by the Federal State Saxony-Anhalt a measuring probe for firing systems was verified as a product that allows exact, high-accuracy measurement of velocities in large cross sections of gas flow at high temperatures. The measuring principle is based on the measurement of the velocity between two electrodes and additionally a probe acting as an emitter. The measurements were field tested with very good results in an exhaust gas system of a waste incineration plant. Due to its robust nature and the measuring arrangement the process is well suited for the measurement of velocities and volume flows in high-temperature process engineering equipment in industry.
